    Complementary Therapy

As part of our ethos of working with you to find the most beneficial treatment options for you, we are excited to be able to offer Homeopathy, Acupuncture and Hypnotherapy to complement your treatment with us. We appreciate that alternative therapies might not be for everyone, but we’ve found them to be very beneficial for some people.

Homeopathy

Kasia is very happy to discuss with you the benefits of Homeopathy and if it could aid your dental requirements.

Homeopathy was developed by German doctor, Samuel Hahnemann, over 2 hundred years ago. It is a system of remedies for treating people on the basis of “The Simile Principle”. “Let like be treated by like”.

When a plant tincture, toxic substance or “drug” is administered to a group of healthy people, certain symptoms are produced. By carefully recording the symptoms it was possible to build up a list of symptoms and characteristics unique for each remedy.

The way that homeopathic remedies work is quite different from conventional treatments, which sometimes causes confusion. For instance, the remedy may be given in a single dose, or a series or doses, but is seldom used continuously. This is because the remedy works as a “catalyst“ activating the persons own immune system and energy to “heal themselves”.

The remedies are not drugs as such, and do not cause side effects. However, sometimes there may be a slight reaction to start with, as the cure begins to happen. Old symptoms can sometimes return for a short time as the body heals itself.

The aim of homeopathic treatment is not to remove or suppress symptoms as in conventional medicine, but to “restore the balance of the organism”. Dental homeopathy is not intended to replace conventional Dentistry but should be regarded as a useful and effective complement.

Ear Acupuncture

Kasia provides our patients with ear acupuncture (or Auriculotherapy). It works by stimulating ear surfaces to alleviate pathological symptoms in other parts of the body. The method is partially based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TMC) and partly on the work of a French medical doctor, Paul Nogier. Stimulation is achieved by using tiny ear acupuncture “seeds” (small pellets).

Stimulation of certain points on the ear surface can bring mild dental analgesia to relieve acute dental pain and reduce anxiety. Pain from chronic headaches and pain in the jaw and associated muscles (TMJ) can also be alleviated with ear acupuncture.

Hypnotherapy

We are very excited to be able to offer referrals to a qualified hypnotherapist to provide support for dental anxiety and to help treat symptoms of TMJ Disorder and stress-related tooth grinding. Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness, a pleasant state of deep relaxation during which beneficial suggestions may be given to your subconscious mind. It is a natural and safe treatment and you will remain in control at all times
